Tim Drakehas hold theRobinmantle for the longest metre , out of all ofBatman ’s pal inDC Comics . debut in 1990 as the Boy Wonder , and continuing to today ,   Tim Drake has been the classical Robin for at least one generation of comic book readers .   For many fans , Tim Drake is commonly known as Batman ’s smartest Robin , but his   compassionate side remains one of his good quality . And while it is easy to take Tim ’s worked up intelligence for grant nowadays , his earlierRobincomics show how that trait was tincture in him by Alfred Pennyworth .

Tim Drake ’s intelligence is one of the Bat - Family ’s greatest assets , as he has proven clip and time again how useful it is in the field . Out of all of Batman ’s Robins , Tim is the only one to have volunteer for the function , having deduced on his own that Bruce Wayne was Batman , and Dick Grayson used to be Robin . WhileTim is n’t the Bat - Family ’s best fighter , he make up for it with his leading acquirement and ready cerebration . But as other members of the Teen Titans can attest to , intelligence information itself is n’t a tone that automatically merit praise , a fact that Alfred was quick to prompt him of when he get to blows with the 4th Robin , Damian Wayne .

InRobin#168 by Peter Milligan and Freddie E. Williams II , Tim take in Damian sneak around Wayne Manor looking for Batman . Unbeknownst to him , Damian had been seeking his father out for protection , ashis grandad Ra ’s al Ghul ,   had been hunting him down . Terrified , Damian was comforted by Alfred , and as the two walked down a hall in Wayne Manor , Alfred tripped on a carpet . Seeing Alfred twilight to the level , Tim jumped in and punched Damian in the face , leading Alfred to scold Tim for his poor thought and want of compassion for Damian .

It is undeniably shocking to see Alfred raise his vocalization at anyone in the Bat - Family , but in this example , he   pointed out to Tim the qualities that would later define his place in DC Comics . Tim may be the smart member of the Bat - Family , but without his compassionateness , that intend nothing . By suspecting that Damian was up to something evil , Tim had been exhibit Batman - degree of paranoia instead of tender to assist him . This conduct that is a jar to   see now , as hisrecent   appearances inFuture State : Gotham , Batman : Urban Legends , andNightwingall support his image as the most empathetic extremity of the Bat - Family . But stepping back into this point in his publishing history is a testament to how much Tim ’s character has grown over the years . This is especially unmistakable in his later coming into court in   Adam Beechen and Jim Calafiore’sBatgirlseries , where Tim widen himself as worked up sustenance to Cassandra Cain as she clamber with the   impact that her nefarious father , David Cain , had on her life . Clearly , Tim develop from this example with Damian , and Alfred was the one to impart this important moral .

With Alfred now dead in DC’sInfinite Frontierera , the Bat - Family is missing its principal conscience soma . Tim Drake ’s past times with Alfred alongside his own character growth makes him an excellent campaigner for this view . With anew series for Tim Drake ’s Robin on the purview , there has never been a good opportunity for him to grow into the next stage of his life as a vigilance man . Tim Drake is unquestionably Batman ’s smartestRobin , but as he learned from Alfred , his intelligence means nothing if he ca n’t back it up with empathy for others .
