The often under - used penis of the Bat - Family ' Batwing ' is now put together his own version of theSuicide Squad . In doing so , he is following a interchangeable path as fellow Bat - Family member Red Hood , who is currently leading the zombified Task Force Z. But Batwing ’s squad already seems a moment less nonadaptive than Jason ’s police squad .
Batwing is the superhero alias of Luke Fox , one of longtime Batman ally Lucius Fox ’s sons . Luke is the second Batwing , having demand over the role from David Zavimbe , but he was personally approve for the role by Batman himself , and has been a valued member of the Bat - Family ever since taking up the mantle . Members of the Bat - Family do n’t necessarily have to physically fight offense in a costume however , as Oracle has demo , and many non - vigilantes like Luke ’s founder are considered to be part of the group . It seems that Luke is step away from his Batwing mantle now and using his talents to avail fight down law-breaking in a dissimilar direction .

InHarley Quinn#18 by Stephanie Philips and Georges Duarte , Luke recruits Harley to a new team that he is putting together named Task Force XX . The team is similar to the Suicide Squad in that it is composed of supervillains and the mission it is undertaking are passing dangerous , but it also differs in some important way . Most importantly , the extremity are n’t motivated by bombs in their head but are rather paid for their service . In addition , the team is n’t meant to be explicitly a tool for the US government but is instead meant to fill up some of the gaps left by theloss of the Justice League inDark Crisisand to judge to address problems superheroes often ca n’t well solve .
In telling Harley about the squad , Luke also cut into into some of his personal motivation in forming it . As Batwing , Luke feel like he was always fighting someone else ’s battles , which make sense given that he was the 2d person to take up that pall . By fly the coop his own Task Force , he can focus on trying to work out problems often overlooked by other heroes like systemic societal issues and favouritism . It also lets him put his immense wealthiness to good use , something that Batman has often been criticized for not doing .
It is interesting to see Luke lead this team when Jason Todd is currently leading his own take on Task Force X with Task Force Z. ButRed Hood ’s squad is fabulously dysfunctional , hamstringed by lack of support , betrayal , and the undead nature of its members . Luke ’s team by line seems like it works much well and does n’t hold the ethical luggage of using dead and potentially unwilling villain . Thus despite the obvious comparisons to the actions of other member of theBat - Family , Luke Fox’sSuicide Squadis setting him aside from his fellow vigilante and showing what makes him a bully character .
