The 9th episode in the serial was meant to live as anend to the Skywalker saga , which when it was all enounce and done spanned three trilogies . Though this does not mean that this is the end of eccentric like Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron , as they might still come along in spin - off serial ' . Additionally , Disney has made no mention of the being of an upcoming Episode X.
