Game Of Thrones

IfGame of Thronesseason 9 pass , it could have a cocksure shock on Jon Snow killing Daenerys Targaryen … without needing to bring her back to life sentence . Daenerys ' death at the hands of her lover / nephew Jon Snow was - and remains - one of the most shocking and controversial parts ofGame of Thrones ' ending . It ’s also something that , if the show were to ever continue in any way , it would have to deal with .

One of the biggest theories about how that might happen is thatDaenerys could be resurrected by Kinvara , a Red Priestess . This comes afterDrogon wing away with Daenerys ' body in theGame of Thronesseries finis , with nothing yet reveal about what chance to her . However , if HBO did makeGame of Thronesseason 9 , I would n’t want Dany to be rise : her ending was blemished , yes , but also thematically and narratively fitting , and there ’s small value in undoing it . Still , the idea of Dany returning in some way is a compelling one after season 8 .

Jon Snow Killing Daenerys Deserved More Time & Depth In Game Of Thrones

The Series Finale Didn’t Have Room To Properly Explore It

Jon Snow killing Daenerys Targaryen was always going to be unmanageable to pull off , but ( like with many things)Game of Thronesseason 8only having six episodes did n’t avail thing . Because it ’s so monumental , then even in a 10 - episode time of year it could only ever happen in one of the last two installment . Butby sustain it happen partway through the serial stopping point , there was n’t a huge amount of clip to research the falloutfrom it or how key graphic symbol felt about it .

Game of Thrones ' serial finale is the show ’s lowest - fink sequence on IMDb , with 4/10 .

It cut passably speedily from Jon doing it to the tally punishment of him drop dead to the Wall , then Bran becoming queen , and the Starks saying goodbyes . The nidus on the Starks in the ending is an emotional high point of the finale , but it ’d be overnice if there had been room for much more introspection from Jon and perhaps Tyrion Lannister on what they ’d done , why they did it , and how they find long afterward , not just at once .

Game Of Thrones Season 9 Could Fully Reckon With Jon Snow Killing Daenerys

It Could At Least Explore His Decision & Its Impact On Him

One of the things I ’d have like to see in theJon Snow spinoff show with Kit Harington , before it was set back , was how the guilt of defeat Daenerys affected him . Jon is someone with a lot of scars - figuratively and literally- and explore the weight of his trauma , his slaying , and all the other unmanageable conclusion he ’d had to make , as well as the people he ’d lost , could be fascinating for his character . That hold true forGame of Thronesseason 9 , particularly where Dany is concerned .

While I do n’t need to see Daenerys resurrected , it could even have Emilia Clarke return , at least in vision or aspiration sequence .

While I do n’t want to see Daenerys resurrected , it could even have Emilia Clarke return , at least in visual modality or dream chronological sequence . Showing Jon being obsess by what he did , and having to more fully estimate with that decision and amount to term with it , perhaps shedding new light on why he had no other alternative , could be honorable for its level and one of the few ways to involve Dany . The same goes for Tyrion , because him just being his impudent - cracking , wine - drinking self should n’t be the lawsuit , and there ’s elbow room for much great depth .

If Game of Thrones season 9 ever happens it should n’t bring back Daenerys Targaryen , but it still needs to reckon with her death and legacy .

In this way , Game of Thronesseason 9 could add depth to season 8 , without have to unmake anything in it . It can add more worked up and thematic heft to Jon bolt down Daenerys and how it impacted major reference , without have to bring her back to life .
