This article check spoilers for 9 - 1 - 1 season 8 , instalment 11 , " Holy Mother of God . “9 - 1 - 1star and music director Aisha Hinds gets frank about Buck ’s conversation with Maddie about Eddie , questioning what it really means . Hinds , who plays Henrietta Wilson , made her directorial debut with9 - 1 - 1season 8 , episode 11 , " Holy Mother of God . " It ’s an installment that features some wild emergencies , in accession to a tense reunification between Bobby ( Peter Krause ) and his estranged mother , but it ’s a conversation between Buck ( Oliver Stark ) and Maddie ( Jennifer Love Hewitt ) that might be the most telling .
In an interview withScreenRant ’s Rachel Foertsch , Hinds was asked about the conversation that revolved around Eddie ( Ryan Guzman ) . In particular , the actor and conductor respond to whether the prospect opens the door for a Buck and Eddie romanticism , and explained what she was expect for from both Hewitt and Stark in their public presentation . Hinds acknowledges the possibility that there may be more to Buck ’s journey . However , as she says in the quote below , the finish of the conniption was to straight off address the question that fans have been askingabout the fan - favored conjugation known as " Buddie " :
Does it launch the door or does it shut the door ? I feel like the words on the page verbalize straight to , I consider , a conversation that has been happening amongst fans . And so I guess that Jennifer kind of asked the questions that a lot of the fan have always been implying or saying : “ Are you in love with Eddie ? ”
And so she require the question , and Buck pointedly answer , no , that he ’s his best friend . And so the idea is that in talking to our showrunner is that , “ mind , we ’re hold up to address this . We ’re live on to speak directly to this position and to this questionand to this conversation , and the fans can do with that as they will . ”
But I think , ultimately , we do want to just be aware to take care of Buck ’s tenderness and his dear life that he ’s kind of been navigate and explore since season 1 of the show . So it will be great to see where it go from here and what they will do in terms of honor Buck ’s exploration and his journey as he looks for love . Or perchance he ’ll take his sister ’s advice and just spend some time alone .

It’s Hard To Miss Those Reaction Shots
With this instalment , more than any other , it is hard to misconstrue what9 - 1 - 1is prove to communicate with its renew focus on Buck and Eddie . It ’s obvious whenTommy ( Lou Ferrigno Jr ) , Buck ’s X , shows up just long enough to scoff at the melodic theme that Eddie is unbent . Maddie , for at least the 2nd time in the serial publication , is very evidently prick her tongue . She even says , at one point , regarding the idea that Buck might be in lovemaking with Eddie:“It would n’t be so sick . ”

Buck does say , in response , that he is n’t hopelessly pining for his straight honorable acquaintance . However , in the earlier heated argument with Tommy , he does n’t quite bring himself to the point of abnegate his feelings for Eddie . In all of its run , start on Fox to now,9 - 1 - 1has never directly addressed Buck ’s relationshipwith Eddieto this degree . It in spades has n’t introduced the theory that Eddie may be in denial about his own feelings to this stage . There ’s a lot to take from the relatively sudden shift in focus .

The Text Does Speak For Itself
There ’s a plenty going on in " Holy Mother of God , " include an fantabulous performance from Oscar candidate Lesley Ann Warren as Bobby ’s mom . At the same time , as what ’s now been a trend in thesecond half of9 - 1 - 1season 8,there ’s a lot going on with Buddie . The cast and crew , include showrunner and conscientious objector - creator Tim Minear , may not want to spoil what ’s ahead . But from tearful goodbyes to knowing looks from those who cognise them dependable , there ’s expert grounds to believe Buddie may be go bad canyon .
