For most superheroes , supervillains are merely dangers to club who postulate to be end by any mean necessary , butBatmansees things a bit differently inDC Comics . Case in point , prior to the outcome ofJustice League#33 by Geoff Johns   and Doug Mahnke , Jessica Cruz is unwillingly select by The Ring of Volthoom to become the next Green Lantern , but because the anchor ring draw itself onto her , it also took over her body . Under its controller , Jessica   wreaks mayhem over her town with the League struggle to chill out her down .

At one point , JLA member Lex Luthor had a plan to essentially electrocute her brain , but Batman interfere simply by talk to her and relating to her traumas . In his own words , Batman identified himself as a " victim"like Jessica who was " afraid of the dark out there . " He speak on find oneself the potency to face his fear , convincing Jessica that she was " tired of being afraid . " That was enough to help the latest Green Lantern calm down long enough to neutralize the position .

Comic book art: Batman faces the four Robins: Nightwing Dick Grayson, Red Hood Jason Todd, Red Robin Tim Drake, and Robin Damian Wayne.

This is the form of demeanour that severalise Batman from the average submarine sandwich and what induce him so good at his job . He tell apart that his villains are more than just baddie – they’re victims ,   just like how he was   a dupe the night when he watched his parent get off   in Crime Alley . Understanding that his villain are merely citizenry with harm who need extra guidanceis Batman ’s vainglorious strength .

This is a strength that break Batman from most of his peers . Not just from a JLA infiltrator like the villainous Lex Luthor , but even the League ’s most noble fellow member like Superman and Wonder Woman . What separates Batman from most of his peers is that before he even became a superhero , he witnessed trauma firsthand . He understands just how well he could have become a villain in his own right had he been channelise down the wrong itinerary . Now , as Batman , he seeks to extend that same pass light to fellow victim like Jessica .

In comics , Batman not only understands victimhood , he knows how to get onto the other side of trauma : convalescence . see this adds another level as to why he is n’t harsher on his villains , namely   why he does n’t bolt down   them , in regards to repeat offenders like The Joker , for example . This is a common criticism from audiences that arouse a debate that likely will never cease . But those same critics must understand that with victims of trauma , regardless of how absorb by the iniquity they ’ve become , the key to beat through to them is n’t to punch them in the face or fry their learning ability . More often than not , Batman ’s villains need empathy and compassionto truly commute . Not everyone , not even heroes , understand that , butBatmandoes and his method are all the better for it .
