It ’s toilsome to believe it ’s been ten years since the sequel trilogy began , launching a whole newStar Warsera . Daisy Ridley ’s Rey was positioned as the Luke Skywalker of this bold unexampled era , and she ’s destined to direct a New Jedi Order .
Speaking toDen of Geek , Ridley has addressed Rey ’s legacy .
“ [ Rey ] is a part of a beautiful whole , and being part of that is grand . The character is beautiful and has resonated with people and keep on to . I also recollect of theStar Warsworld as [ this ] opinion of the masses who make the picture show and savour the films , it feels like such a togetherness . That ’s what I experience the legacy is . ”
Rey has been controversial alone , but Ridley is ripe that there ’s so much more to the character than anything figure on the internet . That became clear two year ago , when Ridley ’s counter was announce at Star Wars Celebration 2013 .

Daisy Ridley is correct . Rey stands alongside Anakin and Luke as one of the foremost heroes of the Skywalker saga . Lucasfilm always plannedRey to be their raw Skywalker , redefine what it intend to take on that role . The bookThe Art of Star war : The ascending of Skywalkerdescribes a Lucasfilm Story Group meeting in which Pablo Hidalgo draw that role :
" I care the melodic theme that she ’s going to be our Skywalker , but she ’s not a Skywalker . Then , for our purposes , ' the Skywalker ' is really a metaphor . It does n’t have to be something that ’s directly connected to blood . "
This is Rey ’s legacy ; she let anyone to become a Skywalker , only by virtue of their selection - their decision to digest for luminosity and life-time . I ’ll never block Star Wars Celebration in 2023 , when I saw how many citizenry were in cosplay as Rey . It underscore how much more popular she is than the online discourse .

Our Take On Rey’s Legacy
Lucasfilm seem to understand now just how important Rey is . Recent reports have claimed the studio considerRey their most important cinematic asset , which - oddly enough - is why Rey ’s New Jedi Order picture show is taking so long to educate . The type is too authoritative , too significant , and there ’s a fearfulness that rushing thing will result in missteps and error .
A tenner afterStar warfare : The Force Awakens , Rey ’s bequest is more important than ever - peculiarly now the character is rebuild the Jedi . The character has already redefine what it think to be a Skywalker , and this is now an opportunity to redefine the Jedi as well . It will be so exciting to see what the future tense has in depot for Rey .
